The mission of SDCHM is to collect, preserve and share the Chinese American experience and Chinese history, culture and art to educate our diverse community and its visitors. The museum’s exhibits share the heritage of San Diego’s Chinese community and the essence of Chinese arts and culture through historic photographs, miniature models, ancient artifacts and explanatory text. Special events also celebrate holidays like the Chinese New Year, the Moon Festival, and Veterans Day. Since 1998, museum education and outreach programs have been bringing history to local schools and community organizations. Today, twelve distinct presentations are available in schools or at the museum, with museum and Asian Pacific Historic District tours available in conjunction with in-house presentations. An average of nearly 2,000 people participate in these programs each year, with an average annual increase of 35%.

Gaslamp Museum-Located Across the Street From The Horton Grand Hotel
The Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation is dedicated to fostering the cultural, historical and architectural heritage of the Gaslamp Quarter, a 16 ½-block area designated as a National Historic District. Through exhibits, tours, festivals and educational programs for children and adults, the Foundation opens a window to the past by depicting the historical development of downtown San Diego.
The Foundation operates the oldest standing residence in the Gaslamp Quarter, the Gaslamp Museum at the William Heath Davis House, a repository of artifacts, photos and archives that we seek to preserve for residents and visitors from throughout the world.
Founded in 1981 as a nonprofit corporation and recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt entity, the Foundation is led by an active Board of Directors that provides vision and leadership, sets policy and oversees the organization’s financial health. A professional staff of three carries out those policies and runs the day-to-day operation of the organization and the museum.

The World Famous San Diego Zoo
The San Diego Zoo is located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California and is only 2.7 miles from the Horton Grand Hotel.
The zoo has over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies. Its parent organization, San Diego Zoo Global, is the largest zoological membership association in the world, with more than 250,000 member households and 130,000 child memberships. Most recently, the San Diego Zoo has added a new Koalafornia Adventure - providing an entire Australian experience of its native birds and animals. San Diego Zoo pioneered the concept of open-air, cageless exhibits that re-create natural animal habitats. It is one of the few zoos in the world that houses the giant panda.
The San Diego Zoo has had a love affair with giant pandas ever since two of the black-and-white bears came to visit in 1987. The zoo currently have four giant pandas—Bai Yun, Gao Gao, Yun Zi, and Xiao Liwu, born on July 29, 2012.

San Diego Zoo's Safari Park
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park, is an 1,800 acre (730 ha) zoo in the San Pasqual Valley area of San Diego, California, near Escondido. It is one of the largest tourist attractions in San Diego County. The park houses a large array of wild and endangered animals including species from the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Australia. The park is in a semi-arid environment and one of its most notable features is the Africa Tram which explores the expansive African exhibits. These free-range enclosures house such animals as antelopes, giraffes, buffalo, cranes, and rhinos. The park is also noted for its California condor breeding program, the most successful such program in the United States.
The park houses over 2,600 animals representing more than 300 species, as well as 3,500 plant species.

Witness the fastest land mammal up close and personal doing what it does best: run!Cheetah Run, located near
Lion Camp, is a unique, jaw-dropping experience. The spotted sprinter races on a straight 330-foot-long track that allows the cheetah to really stretch its legs and reach an astounding speed: 0 to 70 miles per hour in just 4 seconds while chasing a mechanical lure attached to its favorite toy. If you're close enough, you may feel the wind as the cheetah passes by. Cheetah Run is made possible through the generosity of local philanthropist Darlene Shiley and is named in honor of Shiley, one of the participating cheetahs.

Seaport Village is a waterfront shopping and dining complex adjacent to San Diego Bay in downtown San Diego, California.
